Beth Shepherd
Growing up, Beth’s dad had a darkroom in their basement. That’s where her love of photography began. Her first camera was a Brownie box camera and then, in high school, she picked up her Dad’s Minolta film camera to learn more. From the beginning, Beth was drawn to landscapes, old barns, nature, and wildlife. She dabbled in photography off and on, but it wasn’t until she got an SX-70 camera that her love of creative techniques really took off. By manipulating the film, Beth created painterly images and was smitten with the process. But then, in late 2005, Kodak phased "Time-Zero" film out of production and Beth didn’t pick up a camera for some time until she bought her first DSLR.
Beth discovered Lensbaby in 2015 at a ‘Mamas with Cameras’ monthly meetup, in Seattle where she lives. One of the group’s leaders brought a Composer and several optics to try. Beth remembers her frustration trying to insert different apertures with the magnetic tool and watching one catch a breeze and sail off, but she was intrigued with the process and loved the possibility of creating painterly images once again. After buying a Composer and a few optics of her own, Beth went off to see the world through the lens of a Lensbaby. She says purchasing the Edge 35 was the turning point and she was hooked!
A decade later, the Edge 35 is still one of Beth’s favorite lenses. She primarily uses Lensbaby for landscape photography and likes being able to control where her focus falls and how much blur the image has. Beth hopes others might feel inspired by her work, and the work of other Lensbaby Trailblazers, and decide to try Lensbaby themselves.

Edge 35
The Edge 35 is my absolute favorite. I love the dreamy blur and how I can control how much blur and where it falls. Because I shoot a lot of landscapes with Lensbaby, I also appreciate the wider angle.
Double Glass II
The Double Glass II is my second go-to Lensbaby. I really like the vintage vibe it gives to my images and love using it to photograph old barns, trucks, and other fun finds.
Velvet 28
Velvet 28 is my third favorite, again because it's a wide angle lens. I like the glow it creates, especially at sunset.
