"The Edge 50 is my all-time favorite lens. It helps me see and capture ordinary scenes in completely different way and to tell a better story. Also, it definitely allows me to cut down on the post-processing on my images."
"One of the biggest features of the Edge 50 is that you don’t need to be very high to make miniature/diorama shots since it’s a wider lens."
"The day that I got my new Composer Pro II with Edge 50 I jumped for joy!!! It was sort of like meeting an old friend but for the first time."
"Small, lightweight, and very flexible system."
Very interesting lens. It works exactly as described. Interesting effects without edits. Nice to be able to adjust your slice in focus to emphasize your items of interest
This is my third optic for Composer Pro II. The system is great for sparking creativity, and the optic swap makes it easy to carry a variety of focal lengths and effects without filling up my bag. I always take the Lensbaby when I head out to shoot. If the weather turns bad or the light sucks, or the subject isn't what I was hoping for, I can almost always get a least a few keepers of something (usually macro) with the Lensbaby, even if not of my intended subject. I just finished a series of portraits of succulents and cacti with the Edge 50 that I am very pleased with and which was a lot of fun. I used extension tubes to achieve closer focus for macro work. I also like the Edge 50 for urban landscapes. You probably won't use it every day, but when you want a unique look, this system delivers. I'm very pleased with the product.
I own sweet spots but this is my first Edge in the swappable system. I love it! Its so different from everything else and I love variety
I haven't spent hours using it yet but the whole optic swap system is amazing, the lens is light, and it produces beautiful color. I've been impressed by how quick it is to focus the Edge 50 compared to the other sweet I have. It's a bit dark in morning light but the colors are vivid and the blur is soft and beautiful. I can't quite figure out why, but it feels like there is more of a focal range to play with than something like the velvet effect on the trio 28 and that's a plus as well! My vision is awful so manual focus lenses are always a bit of a challenge but the Edge 50 is much easier to see the crisp lines being in focus straight through the viewfinder. One more Lensbaby product that makes me want to continue buying everything they offer!
I really enjoyed using this lens. It allows me to do precisely what I titled this review. My clients have enjoyed the pics as well. At the end of the day it’s a win win.
