Artist Interview with Ally Frantz
Ally Frantz is an artist who explores her world through her lens and paints with light. We had the opportunity to interview her and learn more about her process!

Q: Do you have formal training as a photographer or are you self-taught?
A: Click Photo School is where I have received all of my photography education. I love that they have so many options available, and you can specify the skills you want to focus on. During the pandemic, I dedicated time to really focus on learning and growing, particularly while cultivating my portfolio for ClickPro. I’m eternally grateful for where the journey has led!

Q: Which is your favorite Lensbaby lens/gear and why?
A: I genuinely love all of my Lensbaby gear, but if I had to choose it would be the Trio 28. It is such a compact lens with incredible versatility. I love the three optics, but mainly use it on sweet because I love the flare it creates.

Q: What tips do you have for beginner photographers just learning how to use the Trio 28?
A: Practice, practice, practice. And HAVE FUN with it. I started my Lensbaby journey with the Trio, and it brought such joy and fun back into the process. Also, if you have focus leaking and magnifier - use them!
Q: What professional photographers have influenced your work, and how do you incorporate their techniques into your photographs?
A: Linsey Davis was (and is) creating such magic with her Lensbaby lenses. She answered so many of my questions, and she is constantly creating such helpful guides regarding composition, etc. Since she is mainly a documentary photographer, seeing her embrace these creative (and wonderful) lenses really inspired me!

Q: What is the most rewarding part of being a photographer?
A: The community! I have met such incredible people along my photography journey, and I am eternally grateful for the friendships I have made.

Ally Frantz
Ally was born and raised in Las Cruces, NM and has spent half a decade in Appleton, WI. She is a wife and mother, and animal lover.
She savors a warm cup of coffee every morning, and will never turn down a chocolate-chip cookie. She is obsessed with photography, and will sit for hours discussing the ins and outs of the art. She currently dedicates most of her time to documenting her family adventures, but is experienced in family portraiture and weddings.
