I cannot imagine a photography lover who has not tried and experimented with reflection photography.

In my case, at least, it's an absolute obsession. While taking a walk in nature, a puddle, no matter how small, escapes me. In the city, shop windows are a real weakness. Not only because of the reflections but because of the bokeh that you can add thanks to urban lights. And, during the confinement, many of us have approached the windows not only to see the empty streets, breathe fresh air and allow ourselves to be warmed by the sun but to explore its reflections.

If you're still a newbie to photography and just starting, seriously, get out there looking for reflections. Look for them in cars, in rearview mirrors, in puddles, in shop windows, in hidden mirrors, even on foreign objects, wherever. Your photographs will gain interest and depth, do not hesitate.

That said, imagine that you are in a spectacular place and there is no puddle, car, or mirror next to you. Wouldn't it be great to be able to create reflections anywhere and stop playing treasure hunt? This is the reason why I like my new OMNI wands from Lensbaby so much, but not just this one.

The sea, a branch that hangs behind you, the sunset, the clouds…. Reflections of nature, even double exposures difficult to achieve directly on the camera.

Place your wand on the disk of your OMNI or simply grasp it with your free hand and move it around your target until you get the reflection you are looking for and place it right where you want it.

How about your reflection or your models? It is almost like portraying the soul of the person being photographed.

The creative possibilities are incredible. What if we look for images that tell stories? They might even tell a spooky little story.

Your reflection can also be one of your models that, instead of being in front of you, is on one of your sides, as in this one of Kōri, our dog, and my daughter. Can you imagine the story that could be hidden behind this image?

I really like nature, and I hope this will serve as a guide to get you started or as an inspiration. But do not stay alone here, explore, play, play a lot…. You don't even need to leave your house. Open the window and reflect the tall buildings on your model's face. You will have a portrait of scandal, full of interest and magnetism from a simply beautiful portrait.

I took this photo without knowing very well, testing, and in a hurry because it was starting to sparkle, and we had to take cover. When I got home and saw her on the computer, my eyes made me chiribitas. Don't you think it looks like a collage? Since I was little, I have liked to make collages, so it automatically became one of my favorite photos.
