-ABOUT POLINA-
Polina Plotnikova is a Russian-born, UK-based photographer. She became interested in photography in her early teens after working with the highest-class photography in various museums, galleries and image libraries. She absorbed a lot before eventually developing her own creative style. Her keen interest in fine art and art history has also greatly influenced her photography work. She completed a course in Modern Art studies with Christies Education after moving to the UK.
They say that a photographer is either picture taker or a picture maker and Polina sits firmly in the picture makers' club. For her, Lensbaby was truly "love at first sight" -she loved the way the world could be seen through her viewfinder. Visually, Lensbaby optics allowed her to introduce a translucent, dreamlike quality, which is often exactly how she feel about things, places and people she captures.
While digital post-processing remains one of the key tools in her arsenal - the more she learns about it, the less tempted she is to use it. Preferring instead to try and achieve the desired effect in-camera. With this in mind, Lensbaby optics have become an invaluable tool for her, especially in outdoor photography - the downside of this being she had to get a larger camera bag with space for a few extra lenses.
