COURSE OVERVIEW:

How It All Started

Craig Strong, Lensbaby Founder

TBD

Craig Strong, in his early 30s, accepted the challenge of reading a personal development book a week and it changed his life. He knew he needed to understand himself, money and business if he were to live the life he wanted. Over the course of the next five years, Strong switched from trading his time for money to co-founding a company to sell his oddly fascinating photographic innovations. Soon, Lensbaby and Strong were surrounded by a passionate following of adventurous photographers. With a constant hunger to learn and a drive to outrun the anxiety that has often threatened to sideline him and his career, Strong found strength and hope in the community that developed within and around Lensbaby, Inc.. Frustration and failure have been his most influential teachers.

Sofia graduated from the University of the Arts London with a Master of Arts (MA) Graphic Design Communication and is an experienced macro, portrait, and street photographer. Combining all of her training and background in fine art and graphic design has helped her develop into the photographer she is today. Being constantly inspired by emotion, light, details, and nature, as well as by dreams, music, poetry and time, moves Sofia to strive to capture an honest reflection of how she views the world. Her work has been published and exhibited internationally.

Shelly is a long time Seattle art photographer who enjoys sharing her love of toy photography through workshops, blogging and art shows. In 2012 she discovered this creative photo niche when she was introduced to the LEGO minifigure. Truth is Beauty...The Dharma of Lensbabies.

Susan Currie

The Sanskrit term dharma loosely translates to "the truth", or "the way". Often in the creative process, we spend many moments in our mind writing the scenes of what we think things should look like. I consider my Lensbabies a wonderful ally in my practice of making pictures as they remind me to follow my imagination, step out of the way, and allow the subject before my lens to reveal itself naturally. They serve as my gateway for uncovering "the truth". When shooting, essential for me are locations which honor the extraordinary qualities of these lenses. In The Dharma of Lensbabies, on location at New York City's legendary Union Square Daylight Studio, we'll make some timeless portraits and share with viewers what's possible when we get intentional about locations that draw out and honor the magic of these lenses...and share simple practices for doing so.
Susan Currie is a West Palm Beach based poet with a camera who documents life's lyrical moments through her personal creative projects. Her words and images have been widely exhibited and published. Through the creative workshops and retreats she leads throughout the country, she shares her signature approach to slow shooting and incorporating mindfulness into the artistic practice. Her new book SUPERFLOW: Light Up the Artist in You (Nine Rivers, 2021) is now available in wide release. www.susancurriecreative.com. Susan is also the creator of www.CHARMCODES.com.
