Q: When did you start taking photographs? Why did you continue?

A: I could be cliché and said I started early to be fair. This was just snap shots of mostly my feet and out of focus portraits. It wasn't until I went to the military and was gifted a camera that I started to take it more seriously. Over time my work started to get some notice. I mean beyond those websites that seem to give everyone and their dog an award, I mean people wanted to buy my work and shoot with me. When I left the military and went into the showgirl world, I started to really invest in it. I have kept at photography as I want to document my life and my world in my way, leave a trail of my footsteps if I am being completely honestly and borderline narcissistic about it. Also when it comes to clients booking me, I feel it's like them asking me to be part of their forever memories, their chapter of life.

Q: Which is your favorite Lensbaby lens and why?

A: I am also always pulling out my Omni Filter and my Velvet 56. They are the most sublime for me. At some point I will join them together in a shoot. The Obscura is my rising start right now. It challenges me so much and that is something I wholeheartedly love.

Q: What tips do you have for beginners just learning how to use OMNI Filters?

A: Grab the Omnis. Put your camera in to Live mode and see that effects it has. Take shots and move it. Be sure toe clean the wands...or not. I got some cool effects from them being dirty too.

Q: What is the most difficult part of being a photographer?

A: Imposter syndrome is the worst! I am slowly learning to turn it into a driving force to keep me creative but it takes time. Also understanding not all clients are the right clients for you, no matter what money they offer or don't offer.

Khandie Khisses

I'm that photographer who started her career in the military, became a world traveling showgirl and then made a few movies all with a camera strapped to her. I now have my studio based in a small UK town of Northampton, famous for it's shoe making. I still travel and work with clients across the globe. Always aiming to shoot big in a small town and bring the extraordinary from the ordinary.
