For Rachel Shomsky, its all about finding a balance between control and letting go. Read about her first outing with the Creative Bokeh Optic and see the results, below.
It's playtime again. Many thanks to the amazing crew at Lensbaby for asking me to play with this all-new set of toys. The Creative Bokeh Optic is a 50mm optic that fits into the Lensbaby Optic Swap System and includes 9 different creative bokeh shapes that you can easily swap in and out. I didn't exactly have time to work with every single shape, but it was fun to learn how this little baby works best. And just a little side note, the 50mm optic is pretty amazing on its own.
This system frees up your thinking. Think about it, if you're in a rut and trying too hard, you might need a good long try at shaking things up. This makes me SLOW down, stop, and really think about what I'm trying to create. I can say that about ALL Lensbaby lenses, but this one especially is very dedicated and free form. Don't take what you're doing too seriously. It's when you let go and open up that the magic starts happening.
In the images featured in this post, I used a lot of water and light as you can see, because you're going to get the best results when you have bursts of light in your background. But again, don't take it too seriously, and have fun. As always, if you have any questions, I'm happy to help.
