Welcome to the Lensbaby Featured Photos of the Week
Street and Landscape Photo Challenge
Black & White Winners Edition!
Lensbaby Featured Photos of the Week is our opportunity to share our favorite photos from the Lensbaby community. This week, we're showcasing the winners of the third round of our Lensbaby Street and Landscape Photo Challenge. The theme is Black & White.
Included below each photo is a short explanation as to why the photo was chosen.
Love the story being told here with the juxtaposition of childhood next to adulthood. On one hand, you have a person on a mission and on the other side, a young and carefree child. In black and white it tells an age-old story.
The perspective and angle of view are what really sets the image apart. The simple graphical elements of the solid lines lead your eye through the frame, which is offset by the crisp, rich shadow of the biker.
Creating this in black and white serves to both clarify the pattern of vineyard stakes and, also, turns this into what could be a graveyard with the shapes and moody feel. Using a Sweet spot optic for this also draws your eye whereas, otherwise, the pattern might be too much. This is fabulous.
We also offered a Black & White bonus challenge-- Portraits-- and below are the bonus challenge winners.
A great moment captured and amplified by the Velvet glow which adds to the mood and feeling of the image. A heartfelt and warming image!
This is such a sweet and genuine girl-and-cat moment. The choice to shoot this in black and white, and the glow of the Velvet lens, adds emotion to the scene.
The emotion in this portrait is wonderful. We feel the longing of what could be, or perhaps an even deeper feeling. The tone and texture of the rain falling down the window is really captivating.
