I have always had an insatiable curiosity for trying new ideas. Lensbaby feeds that curiosity by enabling me to attend to the more subtle aspects, helping me to explore more options, and helping me come up with more original ways to present a subject. The more I use these lenses, the more curious I am about what else they can do. I know I can get a super sharp focal point in an image while giving a softness to other areas of the image, and it keeps me wondering, what if.
Over the years, my photography style has evolved. I want to photograph everyday things in unusual ways, and Lensbaby helps me do that. Slowing down, using the manual focus, and really looking at where I want to lead the viewers eye all give a real connection with the story I want to tell.
Getting as much information in camera is important to me. But I do process work in Lightroom and Photoshop before images become final.
About Karen Burns
Im originally from Michigan and now live in Northern California, halfway between Lake Tahoe and San Francisco. Weve landed in the perfect spot near the mountains, near the ocean, and near Napa Valley.
There has been a camera in my hand for many years of travel, tasting, and living. I began food photography simply because it really interests me. The setup, the colors, finding the perfect prop all these things keep my mind busy with ideas.
