Lifestyle photographer, What subject matter do you enjoy shooting?
I enjoy photographing kids the most, as well as finding beauty in the ordinary and every day around me. I am mostly inspired by light and shadows along with nature surrounding me.
What does creativity mean to you?
Creativity is such an important thing for an artist! Coming from a technical background; that is engineering; I never thought I could be a creative or an artist. However; I realized that the more I started exploring and studying art along with creating, I saw that engineering in itself is a form of art! Everyone can be an artist or a creative and we all have it in us to create. In fact, we all have been creating art in some form or the other throughout our lives - drawing, painting, sketching or even cooking! Creativity is something that I love to keep exploring through the medium that speaks to me the most - photography. I have realized with time that the harder I try to go find creativity, the harder it is for me to get creative! In fact; when I stop looking for it and just be, it's in that moment that I start to truly observe.
When did you discover your passion for visual creation?
I was interested in photography as a way to document moments in time from childhood but not much more than that until a few years ago. Even when my first kid was born, I wasn't really into photography as much. Once my son started preschool, I somehow could feel him growing up all of a sudden way too fast and I knew I had to come up with a way of documenting those memories in an authentic way. At that point I started learning photography, however, I don't think it was until two years ago that I truly started to feel more passionate about my work as a form of art and not just doing something because I had to. My love for chasing light and shadows opened up a new world of possibilities and I started exploring more ways to create images that spoke to my heart!
Where do you find inspiration and motivation for your work?
Inspiration comes in all forms according to me. I am most inspired by light and shadows and love chasing pockets of light around my house and other spaces we travel to. I am also inspired by kids and documenting them in their element, as well as the beauty of the nature around us!
How do you continue to push yourself to grow & evolve as an artist?
I think we all need to keep pushing ourselves and continue experimenting with our work in order to grow. We should not be afraid to try new things, even if that means the results are just ordinary. I also love taking classes and workshops whenever I can to continue growing in my work and stepping out of my comfort zone!
How is the experience of shooting with a Lensbaby lens different than other lenses?
Lensbaby lenses have opened up a new world for me with my photography. I always see myself picking up a Lensbaby lens whenever I am in a rut or need an extra push for inspiration. The change in perspective and dreamy focus that I can get with my Lensbaby lenses is truly amazing. I pack either my
