Welcome to Lensbaby Journeys. We have asked photographers to write about their journey with photography and with Lensbaby, however they want to approach it. Each piece will come directly from an individual photographer in their own words, accompanied by their photographs. Our hope is that these journey stories will resonate with you, inspire you, and push you forward on your own path.
What is your Lensbaby journey, Morgaine?
My husband bought me my first camera in 2011 and he taught me the basics - he was a keen semi-pro photographer back then. I became addicted to shooting, of course. I was very much into abstract photography (and still am) and loved to be creative (long exposure and ICM rocked my world).
I aimed for my photos to look like paintings or graphics. I had always loved Lensbaby photos but since I had a compact camera I could only dream on...but for my 40th birthday I got a Fuji mirrorless camera with interchangeable lens - and learned that Lensbaby was about to produce a Lensbaby lens for FUJI!!! Well, Santa knew it too, obviously, and for Christmas 2015 my dream of getting a Lensbaby lens was fulfilled. And the Composer Pro with Sweet 50 is on my camera for 90% of my shooting. I love love love it! No drama, just my very kind spouse who can read my dreams so well.
I slowly leave the abstract photography now because with Lensbaby it is just so amazing to shoot the reality (even landscapes, which was not my cup of tea really) which soon becomes sort of transformed into dream and artwork through this lens.
