Meet Anita

Portrait | Children | Filmmaker

Anita Perminova is a Russian-born Italian portrait photographer and family filmmaker. She currently lives in The Netherlands with her husband and two young children.

After initially pursuing a career in a major business consulting company, it wasn’t until her second daughter was born that her photography journey really began. Her children are her favorite subjects. She enjoys preserving childhood memories and their stories – both through portraits and films.

Anita’s passion for post-processing and image editing has led her to teach the art of color grading to filmmakers at FilmingLife Academy. She loves helping others learn the tools and explore creative options to fine-tune their images to be unique representations of their own personal style.

Anita’s work has been described as emotive, honest, engaging, and classic. Bringing out true personalities and capturing beautiful connections is her goal in every image.

Inside Anita’s Camera Bag

“To me, portraiture is about seeing first and equipment second. I prefer to shoot with prime lenses. My equipment is minimal.

“Using Lensbaby lenses changed a number of things about how I think about taking pictures and my approach in shooting overall. Lensbaby lenses are creative lenses and they are sort of “artistic” already. I love to experiment and explore new ways of shooting and editing. My photography style and taste evolve over time.

“Lately, I find myself shooting with my Velvet 56 and Composer Pro Sweet 50 lenses if I want to create some particular mood and add that ethereal quality to my portraits. I love the softness and haziness that the Velvet lens produces. I certainly love that diffused glow around the edges.

“If I’d like to dictate the amount of distortion and be in total control of my focus area, I use the Sweet 50. This lens makes it so much easier to guide my viewers around the frame. Creating more blur and softness around the focal point.

“Whenever I am outside with my family exploring the world, I truly enjoy using the Edge 80. I generally set my tilt according to a scene and then angle my camera slightly to the sun until I see the magic happen.”
