Welcome to the Lensbaby Journey Story series. We asked photographers to write about their journey with photography and with Lensbaby, in any way they want to approach it. Each piece comes directly from an individual photographer in their own words, accompanied by their photographs. Our hope is that these journey stories will resonate with you, inspire you, and push you forward on your own path.

What is your Lensbaby journey story, Angela?

My Lensbaby Journey is not a long one, but oh what a ride. I’ve always loved photography and art. Most of the time I would play in processing, just to make my photos special, but after I joined Flickr and saw the beautiful, dreamy results the Lensbaby optics create, I knew I had to have one.

Then, on Christmas morning, 2016, I opened a box that would change my view of the world forever. I was given a Composer Pro with Sweet 35 and from that day forward, I was hooked. This lens has allowed me to capture the soft and dreamy quality of everything I point it at. There was a learning curve and plenty of deleting at first, but I was hooked and addicted. I was shooting everything in sight and enjoying every click. Lensbaby helped me slow down, focus and appreciate the beauty that’s all around.

From the Sweet 35, I started buying the older optics, like the Plastic, Soft Focus, Single Glass, Double Glass, Sweet 50 and my newest, Twist 60, that won’t be my last.

Since I love closeup photography, I bought the screw on Macro Converters +4 & +10 for the older optics, which doubled the fun I was having. I’ve loved getting that much closer to nature.

I love the ease of changing the apertures on the Sweet 35, so the Sweet 50 was next. The focal range is a bit farther than I normally shoot, so I invested in Macro Converters to use with all these lenses.

The Twist 60 is the newest of my babies, and I love it. It certainly is not my last, with Christmas just around the corner. I asked Santa for the Velvet 56. I hope he listens!

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my story and I hope this might inspire others to try their first Lensbaby.
