I am loving the lens, the learning curve has not been difficult. I find that at the open end of the aperture range, it creates a very soft effect around the subject, while the subject actually remains in focus. I expected that and it is quite useful for some images, such as flowers. Then when I stop the lens down a click or two, the background bokeh effect becomes less pronounced, and mid-range it is a very sharp lens that can be used like any other 50mm range lens. This I found pleasantly surprising. So far I have been using it a lot on my Nikon 750. I use the live view screen to zoom in and get the manual focus spot on, then shoot a 3 photo bracketed series, and voila - I've got a great set of photos to edit. Looking forward to finding many uses for this unique lens.

Within the first hour of putting this on my Fuji camera (the mount fits perfectly with no wobble), I grabbed a beautiful contemplative photo of my son in black and white, and then took it out into the cold Alaska winter and grabbed an ethereal sunset picture. I cannot wait to play with this more. I’ve already nicknamed this lens “The Romancer” because the images from it are so romantic, I just know it will add those images with a special flair to my client sessions. I aim to get all my images right straight out of camera whenever possible, and I love the effect this lens has!
