Punch exchange?

I am always thinking about going out and buying lots of punches, but then I think "I only need ONE punch!".

Can I just buy one *hole*, not a hole factory?

To that end, has anyone set up a method by which we could share punches? For instance, if we form a punch collective, we could "order" punches from many people who have them, mail them all to one place, collate them and mail them out to individuals? We could, in effect, create a user-generated alternative creative aperture set.

I've also thought about asking around at work to find a scrapbooker who, for say the cost of dinner, would let me punch about 10-20 discs...

What do people think?

I think it is a very good idea. My sister scrapbooks so I go over and sometimes use her punches. I think the exchange thing is pretty good though. We would need a catchy name though...how about the Lensbaby Fight Club? We get together and exchange a few punches....
I couldn't resist.

Great idea, but howsabout keeping the punches where they are, and just mailing the aperture discs around?

We're talking 1 stamp for a couple of apertures versus shipping a box ;)

It's a dang communistic plot to get me to make others apertures .......where's the uniqueness of making your own special mattes all by yourself ?

Hee.......socialism prevades Bending.......sounds very cozy until someone doesn't get their mailing then the scam charges start to be slung......Yikes !

Just kidding .....but I don't figure I need the Bendy police coming to visit me ...cause I forgot to mail some apertures out to the "Friends" ......and I have lots of Friends, err' well I did until I blah blah blahed on about "ap exchanges".... Ooops . :))))

Lol - LB Fight Club.

The trick here seems to be to coordinate and disseminate.

I'll think on it some more, and if anyone can figure something out, let me know.

I agree, Ran, that people should definitely keep some punches close to the vest (to really get confusing with the metaphors) if they're particularly proud of them. But if we all go out and buy a snowflake pattern, that seems silly.

Hm... I could easily figure out a way to spread the costs of a Christmas set. Say I bought 50 blanks from LB ($100), then bought 5 Christmas stamps at about $8/stamp, which makes the total cost for 10 sets of 5 at $14. I'd charge about $15 for 5 pre-punched Christmas stamps paid thru PayPal... if I sold >10, I'd be in the money.

Sounds like I'd have to keep my day job, but it'd be a nice way to spread the LB love, and I'd have lots of nice stamps. Perhaps I'll think about this in the fall. Or Easter... :)

Michael: Good idea if you want to sell some matte apertures.

Several friends have asked if I would make them some special aps, my standard answer is "Make your own" it's part of your Bending homework .

But maybe the idea of selling is a good thing, but I'm not too sure Team Lensbaby wants any activity going on here as to sales outside of their own .

I suppose if one just noted they have ap kits for sale on ebay, then that would be acceptable and fair to all those interested in investing in such outside activities .....and no Bendy rules would then be broken :))
