Does the aperture settings work ith this new body and also the D1?

As far as the D800, I would guess yes. In the HELP menu above under FAQ/Nikon. The D700 is listed for aperture priority. They have the D3/D3s also aperture priority but nothing about the D1. I would try it and see what happens.
