I think you're going to need a craft store. In the scrap booking section you'll find a wide range of interesting "hole punchers" that can be used to punch out the outline of the effect you want.
This is my plan anyways.... Have fun! |

I've done a swiss cross, a red bull logo, 8th notes, and some other randome things. I just use black paper/card stock scisors, exacto knife, and a ruler. I've heard of people printing out their own on transparancy film as well.
