I'm not sure I'm getting the hang of this lens! It is definitely NOT easy. The off-focus blur really messes with my eyes. I started with the 5.6 ring. Any tips or advice would be very much welcomed.

Yes, I will make myself practice, even though I am ready to box this thing up and send it back. Would you kindly offer some focus tips, please? Superthor, your images look like they could be hung in any art gallery....love the Bokeh. Is there a certain aperature that is your favorite?

I use different apertures depending on what im trying to do.
For focusing,my Sony NEX-5 has manual focus help.(enlarged cutout on screen)
Another trick i use,was to make a thumbnail sheet with thumbs of the same tree,one for each aperture disc. If you try this,use a tripod!
I bring that sheet with me in My camera bag,makes it easier to choose aperture!
Also,the exposure compensation sometimes might be your best friend.
Also,My camera has built in HDR function,which sometimes makes things easier.
A good photo editor,and knowledge about how it works may also help,i use photoshop 7,photoshop elements 5 and photogene for iPad.
