All done with composer f/2.8 and processed with the same preset in lightroom.

The aperture size depends on what kind of image you want to create,as you already figured out how to use your lens in a great way,try to take several pictures of the same thing (a tree,building or other structure) using different aperture discs (a tripod would of course help),then,make a thumbnail sheet to put in your camera bag.
Then,you only have to check your thumbnails to get some help in choosing the right aperture disc.
