This was the view from my front porch on December 22, 2008. The only editing I did was to increase the contrast, since the pictures were taken late in the day under very heavy clouds. With a foot or so of snow slowly melting off the roof, the icicles were around for several days.

Bonnie,
Great job! Can you tell me which Lensbaby your shooting and any special optics?

I used my Lensbaby 2 on my old broken Canon EOS Rebel - the autofocus & flash no longer work, making it the perfect camera to use with a Lensbaby. No special optics - I just moved around until I found the angle where the limited light best highlighted the icicles. I stood on a child's chair to get close enough for the last shot.

Bonnie,

You have captured the blue coldness of the ice very well.

Very nicely done. I think I like the 3rd one best of all.

Love your ice dagger shots, Hopefully the only place I see that many icicles is in your photos, hehe.

About the bent icicle - my guess is that someone's head broke the end, but it didn't fall off, then more ice encased it. I know that I forgot to duck a couple of times & broke the tips off of a few when they were thinner. Everyone but my 5 & 7 year old granddaughters had to duck to go under them, until a couple were knocked down & left a gap to walk through. I heard on the news about a few people having their windshields shattered by icicles falling from street lights.
