Your buddy looks like he is having fun. Snow can trick a meter so sometimes for exposure you can move your exposure compensation to +1 or +1 1/2. I hope that is what you were asking. I am jealous of the ability to photograph and play in the snow. My Golden Retrievers love the snow but don't get the chance often.
