st lukes church built in 1811 badly damaged by a incendiary bomb during a blitz raid by the germans on monday 5th 1941 it is now a monument to the irish famine the Great Famine was a period of mass starvation, disease and emigration between 1845 and 1852 when over a million irish people emigrated thou Liverpool to the USA and Canada .
