An early warm spell forced the magnolias to bloom a month early; unfortunately, they are doomed. This is New England, and we have a hard frost due tonight. But I was able to get out there with my Muse to save a bit of their glory while it lasted.

The same thing happened to my favorite Magnolia Barbara; they were just getting to full bloom when a frost got them; fortunately I found a few that escaped the frost in town.
