Hi All,

Here is an image taken at the 145th Annual Gettysburg civil war reenactment. LB 3G, F4.
In my post-work I tried to mimic the wet-plate collodion photo process that dominated during the civil war years. I found it was a challenging task. I feel it is much easier to pour a collodion liquid on the glass and put it in a view camera.

Regards,
Igor.

Very nice, Igor...I love how well the LB works with a vintage B/W or sepia treatment.

Whether it was what you intended or not, the effect is fantastic.

Assuming you used Photoshop, you can save your steps as an action, which you can then apply to other photos. Then it's only painful the first time. ;)

Nice effect especially in the middle of the frame and at the edges, yet something still seems to be missing, maybe the image is too sharp for this period of photograph, perhaps a little noise and gaus (sp?) blur applied before the collodion photo process you applied would make this more realistic, if that is what you are going for.

Thanks for sharing.

Glen, You're right about the sharpness. Majority of the collodion images were quite blurry. The original file that I created is less sharpy. However, the collodion image that I use as a reference for my work was surprisinly sharp. I tried to match the overall perception and especially the glossy highlights that is difficult to get with a digital camera. Thanks for the feedback.

Igor,
Very well done and the resulting image looks wonderful. A lot of photoshop time. I agree with tokengirl - did you save it as an action to try it on another photo?

Loved reading everyone's comments - no matter what the effect intended it is a portrait which draws you right in...
