That's a nice find Rich. I like that popcorn look on the surface like it out grew the skin. They are just a little bit slower than a turtle though.

I have been using the macro adapter from the 0.6x wide angle adapter which seems similar to the +10 and +4 combined. I had not considered an extension tube, but it might be fun to try too.

I like #3 because:

1) I would not have guessed it was a mushroom.

2) The composition w/ the diagonal lines leading toward the light looks great.

3) It looks like sunrise on another distant planet.....but it's just a mushroom!

Great job.

Very interesting series.....you make a great case for getting an extension tube!

Nice Shots, Rich.

#1 is quite sharp. Did you use f/5.6 or f/8?

#3 Wins all. Very "out of this world" image. Dean is so very right.. the diagonal lines leading to light is eye catching. Very nice.

#1 is amazing. At first glance, it really does look like a turtle.

Thanks David, Dick, Lar, Dean, Pam, Omer, Tony, and Darrell ...

Looks like the underside of the mushroom is the winner with four votes as favorite. The "turtle" was not far behind though.

Dick and Pam -- I am finding the extension tube I got from fotodiox.com quite interesting. It clearly adds a new dimension to a number of images that one can create. I find that I can make something 0.4" wide fill the field of view diagonally.

Dean -- thanks for you detailed explanation of why you liked #3 the best.

Have a good day!
