Recently, I photographed this beautiful girl, named Amanda. It was our third time working with one another, but my first using a Lensbaby (3G) on her. Without question, the LB-3G was a conversation starter, but she was very pleased with how she turned out nonetheless.

In the black-n-white shot, I used an f/11 aperture ring since I was using a strong strobe on her. Had I not, there would've been A LOT of light coming into the camera, thus, causing a washed-out picture.

In the second (color) shot, I used an f/4 to garner some rich blur around her. Overall, I am pleased with the images using the Lensbaby.

Walter,

These are very beautiful portraits -- in line with your posts of the past.

I prefer #2 because of the tilt and having her shoulders at an angle to the camera.

Good, creative use of the f11 ring.

I think the Lensbaby does its best, dreamy special effects work @ f5.6 and below, but I recently did a test with all the aperture rings, and liked the results above f8.0 as well.

I haven't tried flash yet, though.

Good work!

Walt, these are beautiful portraits! One thing though.. my eye is drawn to the differing skintones on her neck/chest area on #1, an easy fix. :)
