Lensbaby

Normally, I am a purist on this web but I want you all to see something I have been playing with. This was photographed on a nice spring day with the baby set on f5.6, and while the original was good, I really wanted a mood to go with the architechture. so my digital darkroom evolved. I used optikverve to change the b/g and photoshop to change the rest. At the bottom of photo and top is where you can see the baby in action. I also used a wide angle attachment on it as well, so it's not as "dreamy" but in my personal opinion, quite sureal and creepy. It's apt named "Drinking with Dali". So what do you think and what would you change to make it even better?

I do not have much idea about digital creations, so I will not be able to
give any deep opinions.. can just express my first impressions. When I
saw it, I had gone:

"oops.. what an effect! Looks interesting!!"

Hi Gena
I think your shot has all the elements to make it creepy and mysterious.
Your eyes start at the lamp and then move on to the house. From the top and down. The strange lights in the windows is perfect.
When you look closer at the buttom you come back to the reality.
The colours are very well adjusted and harmonized, so all the colours has the same value. The match betwen BW and colours is perfect.
And even the title is perfect.
Great, different and renewal !!!

My thanks to all who had an opinion and comments. I really appriciate the advice and instruction I have received over the past few months. I wanted to branch out and show that you don't "need" photoshop to create a good photo. You can get what you need with the Lensbaby. But, if you want to go that extra step you can and still keep that Lensbaby feel. That's one of things that makes this lens so cool!

Thanks for posting this image and asking for a critique. Your photo is very intriguing and yes quite creepy. I think the perspective and color is very strong. The eye goes right to the windows, almost, except for the sign. I think that's the only thing I would change. I find the words on the sign a little distracting. I want to make a connection between the words and the images. Of course their could be a meaning i'm not getting... if so please inform me!

To me if an element doesn't support the concept (if it's a concept image) then it may need to be removed...

Gena & LB-Punters!,

me'z no way any good at PS work. Today I just got a bit interested and
tried/fooled-around with the unsharp mask. I was startled by the effect.

I had shot father's little balcony - it came out as dreamy as i could imagine.
Then I applied the USM (after monochrome-ing it), PS found an edge
almost everywhere in the whole scene!

The result is a dreamy scene with very less characteristic blur (top/bottom
like Gena's this very image)! the highlights glowing and virtually the whole
frame sharp.. !

Am able to appreciate what Gena says better now-- that there is space
for everything out of the LB - retain the effect or if you want build on it to
your liking!

<PS: and people, this might not be the best post around to support what
I have wanted to say. do bear with me if that is the case, but don't deny
me of your feedback!>

Well done Prabu! That is the "wedding" look of the Lensbaby and Photoshop I was talking about. If you take a great shot with a lensbaby, you can punch the colors and such with P.S. to go from great to WOW!
