Lensbaby

I just got mine in the mail on friday and had a very fun weekend running around with it on my Nikon FE2. I was wondering if anyone has tried using the lensbaby without the rubber ring for f2.8 (for something like f2?). Is the image too diffuse to be of any use? I tried a few shots but I haven't developed them yet and I won't have any darkroom time until next week.

It is actually about f2.5 without the rubber o-ring.

I don't recommend this as the effect is nearly identical as the effect at f2.8 and if you take the rubber o-ring out you are more likely to lose it.
