I think I know what it is but I'm more interested in how you did the shot Rich. I'm not going to guess because If I'm right I'm not sure I can come up with another game. Maybe you can explain how you shot it after someone gets it.

Pool filter drain

It is all yours Keith.

Scott -- I just took the cover off of the skimmer and removed the skimmer, let the vortex develop, and aimed my camera with Lensbaby attached looking down the drain.

good one, and I would have been wrong. So is that your reflection in the water?

I don't believe it is my reflection. The darker area in the upper right of the image is the top of the funnel of the vortex created by the water rushing down the drain in the lower left of the image. Kind of like a tornado, but viewed from above. The bright spot in the top of the funnel is, I believe, a reflection of the sky above.
