It seems that the new Olympus PEN E-P1 with the "Art" features built into the camera, would be the perfect companion for the Lensbaby Composer. Anyone aware of any plans for development of a four thirds (micro) mount?

In further support of this idea - specifically supporting the micro four thirds mount - it would be great to take advantage of the shorter flange focal distance of 20mm to make optics that are of wider angle. This would make a Lensbaby that is truly more of a normal FOV on the micro four thirds sensor. I think this would be of great benefit.

Another thought would be to come out with a Lensbaby for Leica M mount instead. Then it could be usable on any M Mount camera, a Leica M8 for example, and still be great for Micro Four Thirds using one of the many M Mount adapters already available.

Again it would be best to come out with new optics to support the shorter flange focal distance of the M mount (27.95mm) vs the current Lensbaby configuration.

Micro Four Thirds users would then be abel to buy this new Lensbaby specifically designed for the shorter flange focal distance and still also buy the current Lensbaby and mount is using an appropriate adapter giving a more telephoto FOV.

Thoughts?

I have an original Lensbaby in Nikon F Mount that I currently use on my Fuji S3 Pro. I am certainly buying a new Olympus E-P1 once supply stabilizes. I will definitely be obtaining a Micro Four Thirds F mount adapter to use the original Lensbaby along with a few other Nikon lenses as well as an M mount adapter to use some Voigtlander and Konica Hexar lenses I have lying around. I'd love to add a "wider angle" Lensbaby Composer as outlined above for the new E-P1 if such a product became available.

It's amazing just how "universal" the MFT mount has suddenly become!

You can get a Canon/Nikon etc to Micro 4/3 mount and use the Composer on your E-P1. I just got myself an adapter and my Canon mount Composer & Muse are having fun on the E-P1 already. :D

I do hope there will be a dedicated LB for M43 in the future though. Guess that might have to wait a while until more M43 cams are in the market.

The E-P1 seems to be really the IN thing now eh? Hahaha. People are grabbing em by the buckets here in Singapore too!

Yes I know. As I mentioned in my post I will use my Nikon F Mount Lensbaby with an F Mount to MFT adapter.

The real point of my post is that to fully take advantage of the MFT mount and its reduced flange focal distance would require new wider focal length optics in addition to simply supporting the new mount mechanics. (Guess you all might have figured out I prefer wider angle shooting...)

My point of possibly creating a Leica M Mount Lensbaby instead (making wider FOV optics that would work for Leica M Mount and MFT) is to suggest a business compromise so that a new set of optics would be usable on a broader range of cameras than simply MFT cameras.

Anyways, I hope you are having a blast with your Canon Lensbaby mounted on the E-P1 with adapter! I plan on doing the same with my original Nikon F Mount Lensbaby soon (and hopefully one day will be able to buy a wider FOV MFT specific Lensbaby...).

Sorry I missed out that part about the adapter. I am also hoping there will be a maybe smaller, cuter LB for M43. Hopefully there will be one in white too. LOL
