Nikon D90 Error Message

I mount the lensbaby composer on my Nikon D90; thereafter the shutter won't release and I get the F-- message. Can someone tell me whether I need to adjust a camera setting in order to use the lens? I thought I'd just put it on and start experimenting!

What program are you using, aperture priority, or manual?

Some cameras will only work in manual; others in AP and manual.

The F-- denotes no lens info, F-stop, is recognized by the camera from the lens setting. My Nikon and Pen E PL-1 gives the same notation since there is no electrical connection from lens to body.

I shoot a Nikon 3100 and it works only in manual. My Pen micro four thirds read exposure in AP and Manual. All my full frame 35mm Nikons work in manual or AP (FE2 and F3 HP).

Some cameras have a "shoot with no lens" setting, if you do try it, you will have to meter the exposure or guess and correct as you shoot.

Hope this helps.
